Born in 1982 in Croydon, South London, Benjamin Males has received several awards and scholarships for engineering and design including the Royal Academy of Engineering Leadership Award and the Royal Commission of the Exhibition of 1851 Industrial Design Studentship.
Benjamin graduated from the RCA with an MA in 2008 and applies an advanced knowledge of the physical world to create works that enhance, interact with and explore the human condition.
Current work explores the intrusive technologies that surround us in everyday life such as CCTV, and investigates our relationship with them. Research fields include weapon technology and the psychology of warfare, with a particular interest the shifting of responsibility to technology.
