The Singer, The Drummer and The Dreamer
The Singer, The Drummer and The Dreamer are a family of Bluetooth MIDI controllers. Each has a unique character; in terms of the sounds they make and how they are controlled and also in their general aesthetics. The project was a reaction to the brief: 'How can design turn a music listener into a music player?'

The Singer is the head of the family. It is a fine object that must be handled with care. Influenced by classical instruments such as the Violin, the Singer is created from solid Cherry wood. It is made using 5 Axis CNCing, which enables a smooth spiral to be 'carved' into the cherry. The Singer has 5 'keys'.

The Drummer is robust and tactile. In its rest position is remains silent but when turned the right side up, loops of drum-beats are initiated, creating rhythm in the musical composition. Influenced by African drums such as the Djembe, the Drummer can also produce a secondary percussive sound, achieved by tapping the flat section on the top.

The Dreamer creates atmosphere in a musical composition. It is a little awkward to handle as its weight is off-centre and it has a strange shape, however if you persevere you can find a comfortable position. The Dreamer produces 3 sounds depending on its orientation and when placed in its rest position, it remains silent.
